No updates to ubuntu-2204 machine images since Nov 2024?

Hi. It looks like there have been no updates to the ubuntu machine images (e.g. for 2204) since the November 1 2024 release. That means that pyenv does not support python 3.12.8, or (of course) any python version released since November.

Is an update expected/planned? Thanks!

This applies also to the convenience images and the published support policies are not being adhered to.

The CircleCI Linux VM images support policy says:

  • We aim to maintain, support, and release the two most recent LTS versions of Ubuntu.
  • current version of the image will receive updates approximately every three months.

We always aim to release a version of this image every three months.

Image updates to both machine images and convenience images would be appreciated, so hopefully there is sufficient capacity in the CircleCI teams to carry out these tasks!
